Visitor Information

Planning to come and watch in person? Here's what you need to know.

Getting There

Fort William is roughly 2–3 hours by road from both Glasgow and Inverness. The nearest airports are Glasgow and Inverness. Trains run direct to Fort William from Glasgow Queen Street. ScotRail timetables →

Parking & Roads

Expect road disruptions on the A82 and surrounding routes during trial days. Plan your journey in advance — Traffic Scotland publishes event-specific updates closer to the date.

Accommodation

Fort William fills up fast during SSDT week — book accommodation as early as possible. Check VisitScotland or local B&B and hotel listings for availability.

Spectating

The trial is free to watch from the roadside and at the waterfront start/finish. The daily parade through Fort William on Sunday 3 May is a great intro — arrive early for a good spot along the High Street.
